I hear you. It used to be great to drive to a show and pay $20 - $40 to spontaneously catch non-sold-out show in a nice venue. With tickets and fees starting at upwards of $75 dollars for the "cheap seats," that concept has become mortgage-limiting.

Your local Big Brothers/Big Sisters program is a great place to give your tickets, if you can't make a game or a show. They make these tickets available, even at the last minute, to the kids and adults who are part of this important program, and you get the tax-break from them, too.

My husband grew up going to professional baseball games all the time in the Bay Area. He frequently says he doesn't know if he'll ever have the money to take all the kids, eat all the hot dogs and buy all the swag his dad bought - and his dad worked for GM and had no college degree. This is spot on. Gen X men make less than their fathers. At best, it's disconcerting. So, you're not alone, Christian. Great post.
