In scouring the Internet I have been finding some great blogs, like the one from our new friend JenX. Today’s find is a blog called junkdrawer67 and is written by early 40’s GenXer who spends considerable time reading and giving thoughtful reviews of various books and articles.
Can I be a slacker but still get it done?

Today I was reading a blog by JenX called “are you there, God? Its me , generation x” and she writes from the perspective of a Gen Xer and talks about marriage, kids, religion and does a nice job of it. JenX discusses an article she read “More Than Zero ” by Pete Peterson who espouses the high engagement levels of Generation X in politics, volunteering, etc. Her argument is that Generation X does not really =
slacker. I would argue that you can be a slacker… Read more
Irrelevant: Generation X, and Me
Posted on November 12, 2009 | By Christian | No Comments
I was reading an interesting blog by Buzz at buzzmusicmedia. He talks about how he, as a Gen X’r is feeling irrelevant. He makes a couple of very good points. How is Generation X represented in the media? Not by the likes of babyboomers Katie Couric and Brian Williams!
And he makes a second point. As Generation X members we are starting to fall into that crevice (much like the one between the cushions of my couch) where we are too old to hire and too young to take a pay cut to compete with the likes if Generation Y. “Companies are suggesting the HR people not hire someone over 30 these days because of financial needs of the company are paramount.” Hiring someone over 30 certainly wouldn’t please Wall St. and we wouldn’t want that – Boo-Hoo!
Hang in there Buzz! Maybe CBS will call you and offer you Andy Rooneys job. The only prerequisite is an abundance of ear and eyebrow hair. ~cg
